ABOUT THE WELLAND GOULDSMITH SCHOOLS, KOLKATA

Welland Gouldsmith School situated at 288 Bepin Behari Ganguly Street has come a long way since the past 156 years when it was first established by the Reverends W J Welland and H. Gouldsmith in the late 19th century. ln 1936 the Welland Memorial School was combined with the Gouldsmith Free School and called the Welland Gouldsmith School.

Today, we are affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi and send up candidates for both the ICSE (X) and ISC (Xll) examinations. We enjoy a high reputation for cent percent results every year.

Both Schools are truly inclusive; the diversity of the students we admit is wide-ranging. Our aim is to provide quality education to all. More and more students compete to study in our schools. Set up by popular demand of the parents, our Branch, the Welland Gouldsmith School, Patuli situated at Baishnabghata, Kolkata is the dream child of our beloved founder Dr. (Ms) G. R. Hart, Provost & CEO. It is an Anglo-Indian, English Medium, Co-Educational School. The school is also affiliated to Council For The Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi. Established on 19th April 2004 with 350 students (approx.) from the Nursery to Class V, Welland Gouldsmith School, Patuli is a unique endeavour.

Since pursuit of academic intelligence and development of diverse talents form an integral aspect of the schools, the Patuli school that started with the basement and the ground floor is now housed in a Five Storeyed building on a sprawling campus area of 1.399 acres (approx.) of land with about 1800 students from Nursery to Class Twelve under the care of about 60 dedicated teachers. Nestled in the serene ambience, the foundation stone was laid on 20th August 2002 by His Excellency Shri. Viren J. Shah, Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal and the ground was broken by Shri. Hashim Abdul Halim, Hon’ble Speaker of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly, in the gracious presence of Dr. (Ms) G. R. Hart, MLA and other distinguished personalities.
